Making a Minecraft Creeper Costume

This is Halloween…This is Halloween..

Creeper Mask Collage10 days until Halloween!

My young’n has decided he wants to be a creeper from Minecraft. We bought the mask, or rather cardboard box head, at Party City. The picture on the costume advertisement showed a boy in black pants, black shirt, with the creeper box on his head. My son, who is almost 5, will need some modifications in order to make this work. Black is not the safest color to go trick or treating in, and I am also concerned about the weather. My kids never want to wear a coat or even a sweater over their costumes, and although we are in Georgia, it can be pretty nippy once the sun goes down. Its a good thing I sew!!

Sooooo….

I am going to make him a glow in the dark jumpsuit.

Here is what I will need:

  • Pattern for a jumpsuit-size 6- Got it covered. I will use a pattern I drafted 3 years ago for my oldest son. It was a wolf costume which I never completed.
    Creeper Jumpsuit
  • Fabric- Ordered it today from Fabric.com. It is white, but glows green in the dark.   Here is the link:       Michel Miller Glow in the Dark Fabric
  • Velcro- Got it
  • Warm Lining Material- Hopefully I have enough left over from may raincoat project. It is grey flannel. That along with thermal underwear ought to keep him warm.

Tomorrow I will get started. I have to check to make sure the pattern is the right size. I may need some more flannel.

Stay Tuned.
